In response to the latest ballistic missile raids conducted by North Korea, the UN is seeking to impose drastic sanctions on North Korea. The Security Council unanimously voted.
This resolution, prepared by the US, includes measures to reduce North Korea's gasoline imports by up to 90%.
North Korea's main trading partners, China and Russia, voted for this resolution.
The US, the United Nations and the European Union have already imposed sanctions on North Korea. Since 2008, the US has imposed sanctions on North Korea. The US has imposed a number of sanctions on the North Korea's nuclear program and the ban on assets of individuals and individuals forbidding the export of goods to the country.
"The clear message that North Korea will continue to do more is to give more punishment and isolation," said UN Ambassador to the US, Nicky Haley.
China's ambassador Wu Haidao says North Korea's weapons program represents "the unity of the international community."
The US President Trumpy also welcomed the decision. Trump tweeted that the world wants peace and not death.

2.North Korean goods, including machinery and electrical equipment, are prohibited.
