The bridge was drenched by the flood in the Sasindram area. Also in this area many houses are flooded with flood waters. Firefighters and disaster rescue personnel have resettled residents here and relocated to relief camps.
The famous Thanumalayan Swamy temple has been flooded with water.
Over 3,750 electromagnets have been dropped due to rains and most of the power supply is cut off in the district. Thousands of trees, including 100 years old trees, have fallen out. District administration and civilians are involved in the task of removing them.
Electricity Minister Thangamani said 11 sub-stations and over 25 transformers were damaged.
Due to rain watering from Thirunelveli to Kanyakumari, it is impossible to reach the buses beyond Aralavu language.
The death toll in Kanyakumari has risen five times due to the rain. In Ariyalur district, four people have been killed by electricity supply. The state government has announced 4 lakh rupees relief for their families.
Holidays have been announced in many districts of the State including Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Madurai and Chennai.
The Indian Coast Guard has said that fishermen have been rescued by the fishermen in the Kerala coast.
Struggle of Fishermen
About 113 fishermen who landed in the sea in 26 boats from Kerala coast told the Coast Guard that 71 fishermen and 12 fishing boats had been recovered. The rest are being searched.
In the last twenty-four hours, the highest rainfall recorded in the state is 45 centimeters. The rains in Mysore Periyar and Vaigai dam have been raised by this rain. About 16,000 cubic feet dam to the Periyar dam is 2,500 cubic feet of water for Vaigai dam.
