The party's vice president Rahul Gandhi has been declared unchallenged as the president of the Indian National Congress.
Sonia Gandhi has been the chairman of the All India Congress Committee for the last 19 years. In this case, the election to elect a new leader was announced on 16th of the coming.
The Congress candidate has filed a nomination papers today (Monday), which ends at 3 pm and no one except Rahul Gandhi has been nominated.
The Congress party has posted an official announcement on its Twitter page. Rahul's nominee has been formally chosen as the chairman and he has been elected unopposed.
The Congress candidate, Mollappalli Ramachandran, said, "89 nominations were filed in the name of Rahul Gandhi, all of which is going to be the only one candidate to contest from Rahul Gandhi as the president of the Indian National Congress
