The European Commission's chairman, Jean-Claude Juncker, said there was adequate improvement in the French negotiations, leading to future talks between the UK-EU relations.
UK Prime Minister Theresa May arrived in Brussels on Friday night after talks with Ireland over the issue of borders.
The Prime Minister said that there would be no serious border doctrines, but the Good Friday agreement would be confirmed.
As a result, EU citizens living in Britain can "continue to live as they lived before".
Cloud Junker, speaking to reporters, said, "The decision now is a compromise."
"The negotiations between Britain and the European Union were difficult," he said.
Teresa May also said, "There are a number of transactions needed on both sides to reach this point."
