At least 32 people were killed and 32 others injured when a private bus fell into the river from Banas river in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan on Sunday morning. The bus stop at Sawai Madhopur was heading towards Lalchot. The incident occurred in the early hours of today morning.
The police said that when the driver lost control, it broke barriers in the bridge and fell into the river. The bus arrived in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Assam. Sawai Madhopur District Superintendent of Police Mamman Singh told the BTI news agency that many of them were going to the shrine in the temple in the district of Bullana.
He said that many people, including its driver, were sunk into the bus.
The police said the death number could increase.
The bodies of 32 people who have been drowned in the waters so far have been recovered and five of the injured have been taken to the hospital immediately. He further said that 10 bodies were later handed over to their families after post-mortem examination.
