DMK chief MK Stalin has announced that Marudu Ganesh is contesting for the DMK in the mid-term elections on December 21 in the state's undivided RK Nagar assembly constituency.
After the disappearance of Jayalalithaa on December 5, 2016, RK Nagar, the winner of his victory, was vacated.
The Election Commission had said that the Chennai High Court had ordered a mid-term poll by December 31, 2017, to be held by December 21.
Various complaints have been raised about the vote being paid on April 12 when the by-election was scheduled. Following this, the Election Commission canceled the April 10 election.
This time, the Election Commission said on November 27, the filing of the petition will end on December 4.
Now, before the announcement of the candidate on the AIADMK, it was announced that Marudu Ganesh, who has been nominated as the candidate for the DMK, is still contesting.
Speaking to reporters after a consultation in Anna Annadurai on Saturday (November 25), DMK spokesman Mukha Stalin announced that Marudu Ganesh will contest in RK. He also demanded that the DMK support not only the Congress but also the other neighboring parties.
"We have already sought a court because the election is not fair. In this situation, the by-election date is announced. We will face this midterm election. Of course, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, with the support of other parties, will be a huge success, "Stalin said.
Marudu Ganesh thanked DMK president Karunanidhi and activist Mukha Stalin for giving him the opportunity to be given a proper lesson for the ruling party in the interim election.
