The United States has urged all countries to cut off regional and trade relations with North Korea, which recently conducted a ballistic missile test.
Speaking at the UN Security Council, US Ambassador Nicky Haly said US President Trump had asked China to disconnect oil supplies to Pyongyang.
He said that the US did not like contradictions, but warned that if the war erupts, North Korea's regime would be "totally destroyed."
This warning has been issued following a North Korean launch of ballistic missile test from the South Pyongyang region. North Korea claims that the launch of the rocket last Wednesday reached 4,475 km high - 10 times higher than the International Space Station - it is capable of re-entering the Earth's atmosphere.
However, this claim has not been proven. Experts suspect the country's ability to set up such technology.
North Korea leader Kim Jong-thu has said that this test is "not cheap" and "a big break".
US Ambassador Nicky Hal warned that such a "continuous attacking attitude" would do the same.
Meanwhile, Trump, speaking in Missouri on tax reform, criticized North Korean leader Kim "the worst mentally" and "petty man".
Following this, Nicky Hal said Chinese President Shi Jinping had called on China to halt the supply of oil supplies to North Korea, which Trump said.
Moreover, the White House said Trump stressed to Xi Jinping that "all actions must be taken to convince North Korea to stop the rage and stop the nuclear path."
Chinese news agency Xinhua said that Shi Zinjing, who responded to the US warning, said: "If the war erupts, the North Korean regime will be completely destroyed.
China is the largest partner of North Korea, the most important trading partner and the land borders.
