Lionel Messi has signed a new deal with Barcelona, LaLiga president Javier Tebas has disclosed.

There has been mounting speculation over the future of the Argentine superstar with his contract at the Nou Camp due to expire in 2018.

Reports have even suggested former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola could mount a world-record bid to lure Messi to Manchester City.

According to Tebas, however, the five-time world player of the year has committed his long-term future to Barca.

The Spanish giants have yet to make any announcement over a new deal for Messi but Tabas claimed: "Messi has a contract and he has already renewed.

"Contracts are official when they are signed, not when they are said to have been signed, and Messi has signed with Barcelona.

"If he does not deceive me, he has signed it.
